About Emily Abbott
Emily is an associate in our Antitrust, Competition, and Trade practice, based in Washington, DC.
Emily advises clients on the antitrust aspects of multinational mergers and acquisitions, litigation and investigations, and corporate compliance. She helps clients navigate a variety of issues, including pre-merger notification requirements, merger and conduct investigations, and antitrust counselling.
Prior to joining Freshfields, Emily worked as a legal intern at the Court of Federal Claims and in the research office of a university and a design firm. During law school, she was Notes Editor for the Virginia Journal of International Law and a member of the Innocence Project pro bono clinic.
Recent work
Emily's experience includes advising:
- Sonoco on its $1.8bn sale of its Thermoformed and Flexibles Packaging business (TFP) to TOPPAN; $3.9bn acquisition of Eviosys; and $330mn acquisition of the remaining equity interest in its joint venture with the WestRock Company, RTS Packaging, and one paper mill in Chattanooga, Tennessee
- eBay on its simultaneous acquisition of Goldin Auctions LLC, sale of the eBay Vault to Collectors Universe, Inc. and ongoing commercial relationship with Collectors, as well as its acquisition of Certilogo
- Sandvik on its acquisition of PDQ Workholding LLC
- Blackstone portfolio company, Schenck Process Group, on the sale of its food and performance materials business to Hillenbrand, Inc.
- Verlinvest SA in connection with a comprehensive financing by Oatly Group AB
