About Laura Bellezza
Laura is a Senior Associate, specialising in litigation with a particular focus on consumer and data protection, as well as IT law
Laura regularly advises multinational and domestic data driven and IT clients in investigations and risk assessments to ensure compliance with data and consumer protection regulations.
Laura has gained significant experience through three client secondments, where she guided internal investigations for suspicious IT transactions and conducted gap analyses for app and website policies, including whistleblowing schemes. She also advised the Italian branch of an international client on data and consumer protection during the launch of a new electronic product and the setup of the related website.
Additionally, Laura has strengthened her IT skills by assisting a client in the telecommunications sector in several disputes related to the housing and hosting services provided by their data center.
Prior to joining Freshfields, Laura was an external advisor at another law firm, specialising in data protection and IT law.
Laura speaks Italian, English, Spanish and French.
Recent work
- Regularly assist companies, including a credit rating agency, with GDPR data breach notifications, external audits and inspections;
- Regularly support a major IT client in navigating several litigation cases related to (i) sale and leaseback of IT assets; (ii) performance of data centre housing and hosting agreements;
- Assisted digital marketing internal units of various clients with GDPR compliance of their e-commerce website, drafted relevant Data Protection Impact Assessments;
- Assisted a major automotive company in assessing compliance of their new e-features under safety and data legislation;
- Assisted an e-health client in evaluating data protection risks for a new tool designed to anonymise health data for research projects.
