About Javier Fernández

Javier is an associate in our Antitrust, Competition and Trade group. He assists clients before EU and Spanish regulators across the full range of competition law matters, including merger control and foreign investment reviews and antitrust investigations.

Javier advises clients on a wide range of antitrust issues, including cartels and behavioural matters, as well as merger control and foreign investment. His practice covers European and Spanish competition law across a range of sectors including, among others, media, telecoms, consumer goods, financial services or life sciences/healthcare.

  • Cinven on the EU merger control aspects of the acquisition of Idealista, the leading online real estate classifieds platform in Southern Europe.
  • A global tech company on an antitrust investigation by the CNMC. 
  • Renault Group on the foreign investment aspects of its powetrain technology joint venture with Geely and the subsequent minority investment by Aramco.
  • Cinven, KKR and Providence on the merger control aspects related to the €3bn public takeover bid for the entire share capital of MasMóvil.
  • Sony Pictures on the CNMC's antitrust investigation into an alleged information exchange in the Spanish film distribution market.
  • Grupo Bimbo on the merger control aspects concerning the acquisition of bread and pastries factories in Paterna (Valencia) and Medina del Campo (Valladolid) from Grupo Cerealto Siro.
