About Morgane Guyonnet

Morgane is an associate in our International Arbitration Group, based in Tokyo.

Morgane's pratice focuses on complex cross-border disputes, in particular commercial and investment arbitrations. She has acted in arbitrations conducted under various institutional rules (including ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, JCAA, OHADA, AAA-ICDR, UNCITRAL, and ICSID), seated in Europe, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, in addition to arbitration-related litigation and mediation proceedings. Morgane has experience with disputes in the oil and gas/LNG, renewables, transportation, technology and telecommunication, and constructions industries, among others. She has also acted as Tribunal Secretary in commercial arbitrations.

Morgane has previously worked in Buenos Aires for Argentina's largest law firm, in the Paris office of a major US law firm, and the Tokyo office of a Japanese Big Four law firm. She also trained at the ICC in Paris and ICSID in Washington D.C.

Morgane is an Avocate à la Cour in Paris and is admitted to practice in New York. She is also registered as Gaikokuho-Jimu-Bengoshi (Gaiben) in Tokyo. She speaks French, English, and Spanish.

Recent work

  • Representing a multinational asset management company - with US$750 billion-plus in assets under management - in a SIAC arbitration commenced by a leading South Korean asset management company
  • Representing a Japanese energy investor in annulment proceedings brought by a European State
  • Represented a Japanese media production company against a UK-registered luxury brand in a JCAA arbitration*
  • Represented a Japanese company in a dispute arising from the diamonds industry against an Israeli company in the context of parallel proceedings (ad hoc arbitration seated in Tokyo, Dubai-based ad hoc mediation, and court litigation in Israel)*
  • Advised Japanese ministries on various ISDS matters, in particular with respect to the recent developments concerning the Energy Charter Treaty and European law*
  • Represented a group of French companies before the Paris Civil Court in emergency proceedings regarding bank guarantees linked to a transportation project in Latin America (in parallel with an ICC arbitration)*
  • Represented a European multinational energy company as buyer in a gas price review arbitration seated in Zurich*
  • Represented a State defense entity in an ICC arbitration regarding a maritime military project located in a Lusophone African State*
  • Represented a Caucasian State entity in dispute board proceedings and in a subsequent ICC arbitration against a contractor regarding a road construction project (FIDIC Pink Book)*
  • Represented a French investor active in the social voucher market against an Eastern European State*
