About Claire Hooi

Claire is an English-qualified associate in the Global Transactions group. She advises on a broad range of corporate transactions, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, joint ventures and reorganisations. 

Prior to joining Freshfields, Claire trained at a magic circle firm in London. She subsequently relocated to Singapore to work as an associate in the Singapore office of a leading US law firm. 

Claire graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science at the top of her year, where she was awarded numerous academic prizes as well as honorary lifetime membership of the LSE Students' Union. She was also the sole international student recipient of a full-tuition undergraduate scholarship in her class year.

  • Oxford Nanopore Technologies on its initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange of approximately £3.37 billion*
  • Schroders plc on its acquisition of an initial 75% shareholding in Greencoat Capital Holdings Limited*
  • Allianz on its agreement with Sanlam to combine current and future operations across Africa*
  • Intertek Group plc on its acquisition of SAI Global Assurance*
