About Jess Steele
Jess is a senior associate in our antitrust litigation team. She advises on competition and regulatory investigations and competition and commercial disputes, as well as public law disputes, across a range of industries and sectors.
Jess is particularly experienced in litigating mass claims and has acted on leading cases in the UK’s antitrust class actions regime before the Competition Appeal Tribunal as well as on appeal.
Jess also advises on CMA and European Commission antitrust investigations, including in respect of inspections and investigatory powers.
Jess is an experienced public law litigator and regularly represents clients in judicial review proceedings in the High Court.
Jess speaks fluent French and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
Recent work
Defending London and South Eastern Railway and Govia Thameslink Railway in the Rail Tickets collective proceedings, including the first standalone and first alleged abuse of dominance collective proceedings brought under the UK’s competition class action regime.
Acting for a multinational automotive manufacturer in a judicial review of the CMA’s investigatory powers under the Competition Act 1998.
Advising a multinational automotive manufacturer in relation to civil proceedings arising out of allegations concerning vehicle emissions.
Defending Infineon Technologies in the High Court and on appeal in the Gemalto litigation (now a leading case on limitation) arising out of the European Commission's infringement decision in relation to smartcard chips.
Advising clients across a range of markets and sectors on antitrust investigations in a range of jurisdictions, including coordinating global defence and strategy in relation to antitrust issues.
