Malte is a member of our antitrust, competition and trade practice.
Malte advises clients on all aspects of European and German competition law, including complex merger control proceedings, cartel investigations and European tech regulation. He inter alia worked on international cartel investigations as well as complex merger control proceedings which were reviewed by the European Commission, the UK CMA, the US DOJ, the Chinese SAMR and other authorities worldwide in parallel. Malte further advises clients on the DMA and other European tech regulation, and was on in-house secondment at one of our major clients in the U.S. for several months.
In addition, Malte provides advice on foreign direct investment, state aid and other related matters which require political expertise. He has been appointed by the European Economic and Social Committee as an expert on rule of law matters and regularly publishes on various subjects. Malte is part of our ACTech group, driving legal innovation and providing efficient solutions for clients, and our Nordics group, focusing on clients from Scandinavia. At Freshfields, he inter alia initiated an internship programme for displaced law students from Ukraine.
Before joining Freshfields, Malte gained significant experience in this field during his education and while working for international law firms in Germany and abroad. He speaks German, English, French and Danish.
