Thomas Walsh Joins Freshfields’ International Arbitration Team in New York
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer US LLP (“Freshfields”) announces the appointment of Thomas (“Tom”) Walsh as special counsel in the firm’s top-ranked international arbitration practice, further strengthening Freshfields’ international arbitration capabilities in the United States. He joins from Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where he was special counsel in the firm’s litigation group and deputy coordinator of the group’s arbitration practice.
Tom’s practice is focused on complex international arbitration and cross-border litigation matters. He has served as counsel in numerous international commercial and investor-state arbitrations, as well as cross-border litigation in US federal and state courts. Tom also sits as arbitrator in commercial arbitrations. A frequent author on arbitration topics and the Deputy General Editor of Arbitration International, he is a member of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution’s (“CPR”) Brazil Advisory Board, the Institute for Transnational Arbitration’s (“ITA”) UNCITRAL Committee, and served as past chair of the ITA’s Young Arbitrator’s Initiative. Tom has been recognized in The Legal 500 Latin America and The Legal 500 US for his work and was named a “rising star” by New York Super Lawyers.
