Freshfields US Partners to Speak at 31st Annual Tulane Corporate Law Institute
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (“Freshfields”) has today announced that Peter Lyons, US Managing Partner, and Aimen Mir, Regulatory Partner and head of the practice focused on the US Treasury Departments’ Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (“CFIUS”), will be joining a panel discussion on “The Tangled Web of Global Approvals” during the 31st Tulane Corporate Law Institute. Peter has been selected to moderate the discussion, while Aimen will be one of the panelists. The event will be hosted at the Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana from March 14-15, 2019.
Peter, widely recognized as one of the most prominent M&A lawyers in the US, will lead a lively conversation with professionals in the industry around the increased number and complexity of regulations that are impacting cross border deal-making. Aimen, who joined Freshfields last month after leading the Treasury’s CFIUS group where he played a pivotal role in shaping and/or implementing the last two major overhauls of the CFIUS review process, will bring a unique perspective and expertise in the nuances of foreign investment review.
Peter and Aimen will be joined by panelists who include: Howard Ellin, M&A Partner at Skadden; Richard Hall, Corporate Partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore; Michael Han, Antitrust Partner at Fangda Partners; David Muir, Managing Partner of Hakluyt; and Ambassador Miriam Sapiro, Co-Head of the DC office of Sard Verbinnen. The panel will discuss foreign investment review in different jurisdictions, as well as regulatory concerns and the political climate affecting them.
For 31 years, the Tulane Corporate Law Institute has brought together the most well-respected names in M&A, securities, and corporate law to provide top of the line education and networking experiences. The 75-minute session moderated by Peter will take place between 2:15–3:30pm CST on Thursday, March 14.
