Freshfields advises Röhm on acquisition of SABIC's Functional Forms Business
Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) advises Röhm, one of the leading manufacturers in the methacrylates business, on its acquisition of SABIC's Functional Forms business. The new combined company is expected to have sales of more than €700 million and a global presence comprising 14 production sites.
In December 2022, Röhm and SABIC signed a Signing Protocol. After consultations with the relevant works councils and trade unions in Europe, the parties signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement in June 2023. Subject to the completion of the carve-out of the business as well as customary closing conditions, the transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2024.
