Freshfields advises Steenbok Newco 3 Limited and its subsidiaries on €6 billion maturity extension and €628m refinancing
Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised Steenbok Newco 3 Limited (a key subsidiary of Steinhoff International Holdings N.V.) and its subsidiaries on their c.€6 billion maturity extension and €628m refinancing carried out in connection with a Dutch law WHOA Restructuring Plan, which completed on 30 June 2023.
The Newco 3 sub-group indirectly holds key assets of the Steinhoff group including stakes in the Pepco, Mattress Firm, Greenlit Brands and Fantastic operating businesses. The completion of the maturity extension and refinancing transaction supports the stable platform for both the Newco 3 sub-group and these operating businesses.
The cross-border Freshfields team was led by Simon Johnson, Richard Tett, Edward Cole, Tom Wallis, and Michael Broeders; with particular assistance provided by Alex Thomson, Luke Hannigan, Gorata Makepe, Mathias Lehner, Christian Oberkersch, and Huub Boekhorst.
