Freshfields Recognized by Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America 2024

As part of the 2024 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America program, Freshfields was ranked on the Innovative Law Firm Index for North America for the first time. The firm also received the following recognition as part of this annual program:

  • Ethan Klingsberg, partner and Co-Head of US Corporate and M&A, was named among the top ten innovative legal practitioners for 2024. This recognition was focused on his partnership with the Berkeley Center for Law and Business on the creation of the annual Spring Forum on M&A and the Boardroom. The annual event celebrated its 10th anniversary in April 2024.
  • The firm was highly commended for its pro bono work supporting gun violence prevention. For the past two years, Freshfields partnered with GIFFORDS Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence and other gun violence prevention groups to file more than a dozen amicus briefs in federal courts around the country defending state and local laws banning assault weapons and large-capacity magazines. Freshfields also filed an amicus brief on behalf of a group of professors and practitioners in the Supreme Court case U.S. v. Rahimi, which defended gun restrictions imposed on domestic violence offenders.
  • The firm was commended for innovation in deals & financing for creating a web-based collaboration and knowledge platform while were advising 3M on the spin-off of its healthcare business (now listed as Solventum on NYSE). The hub was created by a multi-jurisdictional team and worked in collaboration with the Freshfields Lab. The platform served as a central hub to streamline communication, enhance project management, make knowledge accessible and promote transparency in corporate restructurings.
